David Allen Hafner, the son of Lloyd and Biruta (Gulbis) Hafner, was born September 26, 1955 in Red Oak, IA. He died January 29, 2018 at his home in Omaha, NE at the age of 62 years, 4 months, and 3 days.
Dave attended school in Griswold, graduating with the class of 1973. He moved to Omaha, where he began working in the beef packing industry. On July 25, 1981 he was united in marriage to Lynn Renee Schroeder at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Omaha. Dave continued to work until several months ago, when he retired due to his failing health.
Dave enjoyed bowling, trapping, fishing, gardening, ice skating, playing golf, and playing poker. He was an excellent pie maker. He especially loved spending time with his family.
Dave is preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his wife Lynn Hafner of Omaha, NE; his children, Natalie and Brent Hafner, both of Omaha, NE; his sisters, Linda Jane Griswold of North Highlands, CA, and Teresa Hafner-Johnson of Council Bluffs, IA; his brother Edward Dean Hafner of Griswold, IA; his step brothers and sister: Jack Evans, Bruce Evans, and Rhonda Evans Hafner; his mother Biruta Hafner; his step mother Darlene Hafner; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 2:30 PM until 4:30 PM at the Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold. A time of sharing will be at 3:30. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
