David John
Denne
May 29, 1959 – January 23, 2019
David John Denne, 59, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Cass County Memorial Hospital. He was born May 29, 1959, the son of John "Jack" and Eileen (Larsen) Denne.
David attended school in Griswold, graduating from Griswold High School with the class of 1977. He then attended Iowa State University, where he graduated in 1981, with a baccalaureate degree in Agronomy. David married Linda Bones, and to this union four children were born: Christy, Alec, Courtney, and Rachel.
David was first and foremost a family man – a self-described "proud papa", devoted husband, son and brother. He farmed near Griswold his entire life, which was "the only job he ever wanted." He was an elder and treasurer at Central Church of Christ in Griswold for many years and a community leader, fundraising and advising the expansion of the Griswold Middle School, the church family life center, and the SIRE Ethanol Plant. He was a member and leader of many ag-related organizations – Farm Bureau, IQPA, Southwest Iowa Farm Business Association, and Ag Ventures. He was selfless with his time, money, and talents, always quick to offer help, and slow to judge. His family and friends will remember him as laughing the loudest at his own jokes, and his kids will never forget both looking forward to and dreading his annual April Fool's Jokes.
David is survived by his wife, Linda; his children and spouses: Christy (Denne) and Jonathan Wissink, Alec and Emily Denne, Courtney (Denne) and Justin Wolf, and Rachel Denne and fiancé Jacob Stoll; his parents, Jack and Eileen Denne; his brothers and spouses: Doug and Loni Denne, Richard and Dawn Denne, Jay and Jenny Denne; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will on Monday, January 28, 2019, at 10:30 AM at the Griswold Central Church of Christ. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 2-5 PM at the Griswold Central Church of Christ. Memorials are suggested to the Central Church of Christ Imagine Campaign for the Family Life Center.
