Daniel Gene Wilson, the son of Gerald and Bette (Turner) Wilson, was born May 4, 1960, in Council Bluffs, IA. Dan died Monday, November 14, 2022, at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA, at the age of 62 years, 6 months, and 10 days.
Dan attended school in Oakland, graduating from Oakland High School with the class of 1979. After graduating, he started working for Henry Well. On August 7, 1982, he was united in marriage to Kaleigh Fritz, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oakland. Two children were born to this union, Cole and Quinn. Dan then worked for NAPA in Oakland for many years, before taking a job with Pottawattamie County.
Dan liked hunting, fishing, and anything else outdoors. He had always enjoyed following his sons activities in high school and college. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Dan is preceded in death by his father Gerald; mother Bette; brother Mark; mother-in-law Marilyn Fritz; and nephew Joshua Fritz.
He is survived by his wife Kaleigh Wilson of Oakland, IA; his sons, Cole Wilson and wife Meghan, and Quinn Wilson and wife Brooke; his grandchildren: Piper, Vale, Sage, and Vinton; his brother Steven Wilson; his father-in-law Willard Fritz; his stepmother Carol Wilson; his brother-in-law Marshall (Dinh) Fritz; and his sisters-in-law: Susan (Tom) Baxa, Kristin (Richard) Turner, Annette (Mike) Cooney, and Regina (Brad) Cleaveland. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A celebration of life visitation will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 7:30 PM, at the Oakland Community Building. A public graveside service will be on Friday, November 18, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at the Oaklawn Cemetery at Oakland. A lunch will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church following the services at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Dan's name. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family.
