Obituary

Dan Brownsberger, son of Edward and Gertrude (Michael) Brownsberger, was born in Exira on November 8, 1938. He died on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the Oakland Manor at the age of 78 years, 4 months and 18 days.

Dan graduated with the Class of 1959 from Anita High School. He worked for the railroad before joining the Navy. He served six years before he was Honorably Discharged. After his discharge, he returned to Anita. On November 8, 1970, Dan married Dottie Deist at the Ross Calvary Church. They lived in Audubon before moving to Oakland. Dan worked as a Communication's Operating Engineer for the telephone company while living in Oakland. He retired in 2007.

Dan enjoyed fishing, golfing and spending time with his family.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents; his sister Mary; and brothers Ed and Fred.

Dan is survived by his wife, Dottie of Oakland; his sons, Russell (Julie) Brownsberger of Buckeye, AZ and Ryan (Jill) Brownsberger of San Diego, CA; his grandchildren: Carter, Sierra, John and Calvin; and his brothers and sister: Hazel, Joy, Judy, Phillip, Paul, Avis, Dena, Cecelia, and Stephanie.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Oakland United Methodist Church at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Oakland United Methodist Church from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
