Dale Dean Rush, the son of Vernon and Grace (Barr) Rush, was born April 19, 1929, southeast of Griswold, IA.  He died February 1, 2020, at his home in Griswold, IA, at the age of 90 years, 9 months, and 13 days.

Dale attended the Waveland Center country school through the 6 ^th grade, and then through the 8 ^th grade at Reece School north of Griswold.  Dale entered the Army in 1951, and served until he was honorably discharged in 1953.  On August 30, 1953, he was united in marriage to Norma Lea "Smiley" Crouse, at the Church of Christ, south of Lyman.  Three children were born to this union:  Jim, Jesse, and Janet.  Dale and Smiley lived southwest of Griswold, where they farmed until they retired.

Dale was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Griswold, the International Club of Iowa Chapter #5, and was an honorary FFA member.  Dale enjoyed going to auctions, riding on tractor rides, and collecting anything International.  Dale was a great supporter of the Griswold community.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, George and Howard.

He is survived by his wife Norma "Smiley" Rush; his children and spouses: Jim Rush and wife Lisa, Jesse Rush and wife Debra "Babe", and Janet Johnson and husband Doug; his grandchildren: Barbara Holmburg and husband Jason, David Rush, Jennifer Clark and husband Shawn, Jason Rush, Justin Rush, Jackie Rush, Brad Rush and wife Mindy, Crystal Naser and husband Mark, Nick Rush, Jessica McCunn and husband Cody, Brett Johnson and wife Stacy, and Kyle Johnson and wife Jordan; twenty-seven great grandchildren; his sister Ruth Ann Hemphill and husband Dennis; and his sisters-in-law, Phyllis and Doris Rush.  Dale is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A memorial service for Dale will be on Thursday, February 6, 2020, at 10:30 AM, at the Central Church of Christ in Griswold.  There will be no visitation.  Interment will be in the Pleasant Township Cemetery, south of Griswold.  Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is assisting the family with arrangements.
