Connie Irene Busse, the daughter of Clifford and Dorothy (Glissmann) Beckendorf, was born January 4, 1947, in Atlantic, IA. Connie died December 9, 2022, at the Heritage House in Atlantic, IA, at the age of 75 years, 11 months, and 5 days.
Connie attended school in Oakland, graduating from Oakland High School with the class of 1965. On March 9, 1973, she was united in marriage to Wylie Dewan Busse, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic. Two children were born to this union, Rachel and Rebecca. They lived near Hancock until 1979, when they built a house and moved east of Oakland.
Connie was active in every aspect of farming until she retired in 2018. She remained at home until several years ago when she moved to the Heritage House.
Connie was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church, the Pottawattamie County Pork Producers, had been a 4-H leader, and had worked part time for Pottawattamie County Soil and Water Conservation. She enjoyed farming and fishing. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Connie is preceded in death by her husband Wylie on January 12, 2021, and her parents.
She is survived by her daughters, Rachel Allensworth and husband Chris of Oakland, IA, and Rebecca Hodnefield and husband Jacob of Hubbard, IA; her grandchildren: Brogan and Keagan Allensworth, and Kennedy, Rylie, and Aniken Hodnefield; and her sister Donna Astuto and husband Sebastian of Flower Mound, TX. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at 10:30 AM, at the Oakland United Methodist Church in Oakland. Visitation with the family will take place one hour prior to the memorial service. Interment will be held in the Oaklawn Cemetery. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family.
