Clara Mae (Bailey) Kearney, the daughter of Harold Sam and Leona Reta (Morris) Bailey, was born October 23, 1930 at Carson, IA. She died January 2, 2017 at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA at the age of 86 years, 2 months, and 10 days.
Clara Mae attended school at Macedonia until the fifth grade and then graduated from Carson High School. On October 25, 1947, she was united in marriage to Loren Franklin Kearney at the Oakland Christian Church parsonage. They lived on the farm until 1983, when they moved in to Oakland. Clara Mae live at her home in Oakland until several months ago, when she moved to Council Bluffs.
Clara Mae was a member of the Oakland Christian Church. She liked doing crafts, reading and doing word searches. She loved spending time with her family. Clara Mae always enjoyed having a pet dog, most recently a pet Chihuahua.
She is preceded in death by her husband Loren on June 24, 2010; her daughter Eileen Teresa Beever; her parents; and her brothers Gerald and Bill.
She is survived by her daughter Ellen Louise Terry of Des Moines, IA; her son Donald Douglas Kearney and wife Rita of Council Bluffs, IA; her grandchildren: Steve, Pam, Julie, Jenny, Mat, Amy, and Emily; nine great grandchildren; and her sister-in-law Lois Bailey. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Oakland Christian Church in Oakland, IA. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 5-7 PM at the Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland. Interment will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
