Byrde Eileen Ireland's Obituary
Byrde Eileen Hanson Ireland, the daughter of Edwin and Sedate (Johnson) Hanson, was born on July 11, 1933, on the family farm near Mentor, MN. She passed away at the Griswold Care Center on January 13, 2016 at the age of 82 years, 6 months, and 2 days.
Byrde was the youngest of five children, She attended Mentor Public School and graduated with the calss of 1952. After graduating, she worked at the Catholic Hospital in Mentor as a candy striper, before moving to Griswold in 1954. On November 27, 1957, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Ireland. Two children were born to this union, Joyce and Vernon. Byrde worked for Dr. Moe in Griswold, the Eveready Plant in Red Oak, and most recently at the Griswold Care Center. After Lloyd's death in 1999, Byrde continued to live at home until last October, when she moved to the Care Center.
Byrde was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Griswold.
She is preceded in death by her husband; her son Vernon in 1993; her parents; two great graddaughters, Madeline Smith and Gracie Jackson; three sisters: Ruby Kinser, Virginia Fuller, and Blanche Brown; and her brother Rueben Hanson.
She is survived by her daugther Joyce Wyatt and husband Martin of Missouri Valley, IA; two granddaughters, Jessica Jackson and husband Titus and Emily Ireland Minard; and her great grandchildren: Julia, Hunter, Terrance, and Paizley.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the Faith Lutheran Church in Griswold. Interment will be in the Flint Cemetery. An open visitation will be held at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold on Friday, January 15, 2016. The family will not be present at any specific time. Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
