Betty J. Raygor Gutheil

Betty Jane Raygor Gutheil, the daughter of Kermit and Nadene (Larsen) Lee, was born September 25, 1939 in Griswold, Iowa. Betty died June 7, 2016 at her home in Panama City Beach, Florida at the age of 76 years, 8 months, and 11 days.

Betty moved to Council Bluffs in 1950, where she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1957. She and Dick Lanham were united into marriage and one daughter, Marcelene was born. Three children: Jere Ann, Michael and Thomas, were born when Betty married Jerry W. Raygor. Betty and Merle Gutheil were united into marriage and added to her family with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; her much loved bonus family.

Betty enjoyed reading, baking, crafting, spending time at the Eagles Lodge and American Veterans, watching the Nebraska Huskers and NASCAR. She retired in 1994, with 32 years of Federal Service. She and Merle moved to Panama City Beach where they enjoyed retirement life on the beach.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merle; brother, Davy K. Lee; and sister, Frances Lee.

Betty is survived by her children: Marcy Hamsa and husband JR, Jake Powers and husband Tim, Mike Raygor and wife Sherri, and Tom Raygor; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; beloved bonus family and many friends.

Funeral services will be on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold. Interment will be at the Flint Cemetery west of Griswold. An open visitation will be held at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold on Sunday from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM. The family will not be present at any specific time. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.

The family would like to invite everyone to a celebration of life lunch, at the Eagles Lodge, located at 1530 Avenue F in Council Bluffs, on Monday at 12:30 PM. If you cannot make it to the funeral, you are still invited to come to lunch with the family.
