Bernice Ida Carr's Obituary
Bernice "Bernie" Ida Carr, the daughter of John and Myra (Killion) Eckert, was born in Oakland on November 3, 1930. She died August 21, 2017 at Midlands Living Center in Council Bluffs, IA, at the age of 86 years, 9 months, and 18 days.
Bernie graduated from Oakland High School in 1948. On August 22, 1950, she was united in marriage to Walter Carr in Hiawatha, KS. Seven children were born to this union: Michael, Monty, Marta, Marcia, Michelle, Myron, and Meredith. Walter died on December 2, 2011.
Bernie had held all offices in the Pythian Sisters. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren in their school activities.
Bernice is preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Bernie is survived by her children: Michael of Carson, IA, Monty of Gilman, IA, Marta of Council Bluffs, IA, Marcia of Wenatchee, WA, Michelle of Grinnell, IA, Myron of Carson, IA, and Meredith of Grinnell, IA. She is also survived by her sister Irene Vallier of McClelland, IA and her brother Archie Eckert of Jacksonville, FL; plus many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
