Obituary

Barbara Regina Wilson was born on April 23, 1925, at Lone Tree Farm northwest of Elliott, IA, rural Pottawattamie County, the daughter of George Clement and Ada (Jennings) Wilson. She died August 10, 2009 at the Griswold Care Center at the age of 81 years.

Barb graduated from Elliott High School in 1947 and attended business school in Council Bluffs. After her graduation she worked in Omaha until the death of her mother in 1950. She returned to the farm and started her career at the Thomas D. Murphy Co. in Red Oak. She worked there for over 30 years until the time it closed.

Barb was a lifetime member of the Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Griswold. She enjoyed gardening and sewing in her free time. She preserved a lot of her harvest for the family's use and willingly shared her bounty with friends and neighbors.

Preceding Barb in death were her parents, her brothers Thomas R. Wilson in 1977 and Norbert D. Wilson in 1994 and her nephew William W. Wilson in 2007.

Survivors include her brother Dr. Robert G. Wilson of Missouri Valley, IA, her sister-in-law Rose Wilson of Elliott, IA, her nephews Norbert Ray (Billie) Wilson of Griswold, IA, Robert Wilson of Pleasantville, IA, Mark J. (Denise) Wilson of Elliott, IA, Lawrence E. (Lynn) Wilson of Papillion, NE and Michael D. (Misty) Wilson of Elliott, IA and her niece Ada M. (Asbjorn) McEwan of Elliott, IA. Also surviving are several great nieces and great nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Griswold. An open visitation will be held at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold. The family will be present to receive friends from 6:30-8:00 PM on Wednesday evening. Interment will be at the Waveland Township Cemetery North of Elliott. Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
