Barbara Ellen Colvin
Barbara Ellen Colvin, the daughter of Frederick and Dorothy Blanche (Gillespie) Hamilton, was born May 30, 1944 at Oakland, IA and died October 9, 2011 at her home in Oakland at the age of 67 years.
Barb attended school at Oakland, graduating with the class of 1962. On November 3, 1962 she was united in marriage to Dickie Colvin at Rockport, MO. Barb and Dick lived in the Oakland area almost all of their married life. Barb was able to maintain her home until the time of her death.
Barb loved working outside with her plants and flowers, cooking and baking, NASCAR, and Nebraska Football. She enjoyed animals, especially her cat.
Barb is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband Dick of Oakland; her daughter Shelley of Oakland; her son Brian of Oakland; her grandchildren: Nicholas, Ashley, Trae, Destiny, and Walter; her sister Melanie; and her brother Dennis. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland at 6:00 PM on Thursday, October 13, 2011. The memorial service will be followed by visitation with the family until 8:00.
