Geraldine Annabel (Swisher) Brandt, the daughter of Bernard Ellis and Hazel Lucille (Stocker) Swisher, was born January 21, 1945, in Red Oak, IA. Annabel died May 22, 2023, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, IA, at the age of 78 years, 4 months, and 1 day.
Annabel lived in rural Elliott, IA, before moving to Griswold in the early 60's. She graduated from Griswold High School with the class of 1963. Annabel then attended Platte Valley Bible College in Scottsbluff, NE, where she received her bachelor's degree in Sacred Literature. On August 21, 1967, she was united in marriage to Robert Dean Brandt, at the Griswold Central Church of Christ. They lived in Denver, CO, for several years. Annabel and Bob then lived in several different places, including Texas, before settling in Griswold in 1992. Annabel worked at the Griswold Care Center for awhile, after moving to Griswold. Annabel continued to live at home until the time of her death.
Annabel was a member of the Griswold Central Church of Christ, where she was active in Ladies Circle and enjoyed helping with Bible School. She was a proud Tea Party Member, had volunteered at Deaf Missions, and enjoyed acting with the Griswold Country Players. She liked working with her flowers, gardening, crocheting, and was an excellent seamstress. She especially loved spending the holidays with her family. She was also known for her kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Annabel is preceded in death by her parents, and an infant brother Georgie.
She is survived by her husband Bob Brandt of Griswold, IA; her children Rob Brandt and his wife Julie of Griswold, IA, and Deborah (Debbie) Dickerson of Griswold, IA, and her husband Steven of Fort Worth, TX; her grandchildren, Heather Dickerson and Robby Brandt, both of Griswold, IA; and her sister Bernardine "Bernie" Smith of Newberg, OR. She is also survived by numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 10:30 AM at the Griswold Central Church of Christ. Interment will be at a later date. A memorial fund is being established in Annabel's name. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is assisting the family with arrangements.
