Angela R. Newman, the daughter of Chester and Celia (Knoke) Proctor, was born April 1, 1918 at Griswold, IA and died January 24, 2012 at the Griswold Care Center in Griswold, IA at the age of 93 years, 9 months, and 23 days.


Angela graduated from Griswold High School with the class of 1935. On January 17, 1937 she was united in marriage to Roy Edwin Newman at Papillion, NE. They moved to the Lyman area where she made her home until moving to the Griswold Care Center several years ago.


Angela was a member of the Noble Center United Methodist Church. She enjoyed camping, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and doing ceramics. Angela especially enjoyed spending time with her family.


Angela is preceded in death by her husband Roy on September 15, 2006, her parents, her brother Maurice Proctor, and her sister Lorene Morris.


She is survived by her son Dennis and wife Barbara of Lyman, IA and her daughter Janice Gray and husband Don of Hampton, IA. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren are Kim (Newman) Whiley and husband Terry and their children Kelsey (Whiley) Riley and husband Brian of Waukee, IA and Mitch of Griswold, IA; David Newman and wife Gale (Lembke) and daughter Shinelle of Lyman, IA; Christy (Gray) Hand and husband Kevin and sons Alex and Jake of Hubbard, IA; and Jerry Gray and wife Debra (Bell) and children Taylor, Drew and Michael of Waukee, IA.


Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Noble Center United Methodist Church South of Lyman on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 11:00. There will be no viewing or visitation at the funeral home. Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
